News

Dear friends,

Namaste!

Words cannot express how heartbreaking it is to see what is happening in Rasuwa (Langtang area) . We send our heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by these devastating floods. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those impacted by this tragedy

Since the first day, we have received many messages asking whether everyone is safe and whether there is anything you can do. Thank you so much for your warm concern. Lobsang and everyone at the Guesthouse in Kathmandu are safe, so are our Guides & Porters, there is no threat in the capital. That does not make the situation any less sad or overwhelming. Many of you have likely seen the images, and it is difficult to understand and process the scale of what has happened.

Relief Efforts Underway

Help is now being organized from many sides, and Lobsang and his friends have also been taking action. Through "We Care Nepal", where Lobsang is a board member, they are in contact with people in the affected area and are identifying the most urgent needs. Lobsang and his friends are trying to organize transport as quickly as possible so essential supplies can reach the people who need them most.

How to Support

If you would like to support these relief efforts financially, you can do so through our Dutch bank account or by using the QR code (only for the Dutch Friends), we are happy with every euro, dollar or rupee… Like in other times of distress (earthquake in 2015 and the Corona crisis in 2020) we will make sure the money will be used in a responsible way and that it will help the people who needed the most directly.

Update: Help Us, Help Nepal

Dear friends,

Since sending out our message about the flood, we have been overwhelmed by the heartwarming support and donations arriving from every corner of the globe. Thank you all so much! While we cannot thank everyonre individually, please know we are deeply grateful for your generosity ♡

Our Actions So FarA team member reached Rasuwa to evaluate the hardest-hit areas. Road washouts make access difficult past Dunche, so we are coordinating with local authorities to explore helicopter transport for isolated villages.

Meanwhile, many survivors have been evacuated to Kathmandu, where shelters have been set up in several Monasteries. Lobsang visited two shelters to assess their needs, after which we purchased a large stock of blankets, towels, and bins. A truckload was delivered yesterday, and we are preparing more supplies as 70 more people just arrived.

Sadly, many funeral ceremonies are now taking place. Lobsang lost several friends—mostly guides on their way to Mt. Kailash or men working at the hydro project. We are helping cover funeral expenses for several families and with other things they need.

We will continue helping where it is needed most and will keep you updated on our progress.

Donations are still urgently needed, and we would be so grateful if you shared this message.

You can donate using the QR code (for friends in the Netherlands) or via our Dutch bank account:Bank:
